Season's First Winter Storm Blankets Central Texas

(Cameron)  The first winter storm of the season blanketed Central Texas with ice overnight.  Here in Cameron, numerous power outages were reported as ice weighted down tree limbs and power lines. Several accidents were reported late Tuesday, but there were no injuries.  Three accidents happened on Little River Bridge South of Cameron between 8 and 9 p.m.  As driving conditions deteriorated late Tuesday, many school districts announced delayed openings for Wednesday's school day.    Temperatures warmed from 30 degrees at midnight to 33 by 6 a.m.   The above freezing temperature along with .75 inch of rain, helped to rapidly improve driving conditions early Wednesday.
