Turnout Small for Bond Workshop |
(CAMERON) The second of two Cameron School Board Workshops for the week was held Wednesday night at Simon George Hall. Only a handful of school district patrons attended the meeting as the board again sought public input for the proposed $15 million bond package to construct a new high school complex. The board held a similar workshop Monday in the O. J. Thomas Band Hall Around 20 people attended that meeting. (see story) Trustees plan to call for the bond election by March 20th and hold the election in conjunction with the May 4th school trustee election. In addition to board members and media, only 8 people attended Wednesday’s meeting. |
(Above) The proposed new high school complex with Instructional Facility Allotment (IFA) funds from the state--$15 million. (Below) The Proposed complex without IFA funds--$11 million. |
The proposal without IFA funds would require $4 million in cutbacks. The major reduction would be the elimination of the 1,000 seat auditorium. |
