Yoe High Fire Ruled Arson

(Cameron)  A Fire that caused extensive damage to the Texas Workforce Office on the Yoe High School campus was ruled arson today by Harry Bowers of the State Fire Marshall's Office.  Bowers was in Cameron this (Monday) afternoon to conduct an on-sight investigation into the cause of the blaze.  Bowers would not disclose how the fire started or how long the fire smoldered before it was reported.  He said the investigation will now be turned over to the Cameron Police Department.

Two units of the Cameron Fire Department responded Saturday (November 30th) afternoon to the portable building located along Washington Street just north of the old Ben Milam school. The fire started on the south wall in the Texas Workforce office.  Local Fire Marshall Tommy Chamberlain said there was indication of forced entry.  He also said a fire was set outside another Yoe High Building but caused no damage.

The heat from the smoldering fire was so intense that computers, chairs and copy machines were literally melted.  Superintendent Maxie Morgan said the Texas Workforce office will be relocated.  In addition to the Texas Workforce office, the building housed restrooms.  Morgan said the restrooms on the west end of the portable building may stay in use once the investigation and insurance inspections are complete.

The Fire began under or near a clothes rack on the south wall.  (Above and Below)  State Fire Marshall Harry Bowers investigates the cause of the blaze.
