(CAMERON)  Five Cameron area residents were hurt in a head-on collision last night just east of Cameron at the entrance to the long bridge.  Transported by STAT-Air to  Scott & White Hospital in Temple were Cameron School Teacher Linda Lyles, 55, and her 15 year old Daughter Lindsey, a Yoe High Freshman.  Ms. Lyles was freed from her vehicle by Firemen using the Jaws-of-life, and suffered a broken wrist while Lindsey suffered a deep gash to her face that will require some cosmetic surgery. 

Transported by ground to Scott & White were Charles Foster, 49 of Cameron, and his twin children Charles Jr. and Charlisa Foster, both 13 and 8^th grade students at Cameron Jr. High. 

According to investigating Trooper Michael Nix, Foster was westbound in a 4-door Mitsubishi and Lyles was eastbound in a Dodge Caravan.  Preliminary indications are that Lyles crossed the center stripe.  The collision occurred in the westbound lane.

The accident happened around 9:15 last night.  Both lanes of Highway 36 were shut down for more than an hour while the wreck was cleared.  Two Cameron Fire units, 2 Scott & White EMS units, and two STAT-Air units responded.  Nix was assisted at the scene by Cameron Police Officers Joe Reyna and Wes Male, Milam County Sheriff Charlie West and Milam County deputies.
