AWARDS HIGHLIGHT CHAMBER BANQUET

 (CAMERON)  More than 300 people packed into the Cameron VFW last night for the 69th annual Cameron Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet.  Highlighting the event were the awards for outstanding Citizen, Organization, Volunteer and Business.  Named outstanding Citizens of the Year were Maurice and Vickie Goza.  Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Jeanne Ohlerking.  The Outstanding Organization of the Year is the Milam County 4-H Club. Gary Fuchs received the Outstanding Chamber Member Award, and the Business of the Year Award went to Royal Seating, Cameron’s second largest Industrial employer.

Melanie Shuffield, outgoing President, introduced the new President of the Chamber, Margie Barkemeyer.  Chamber directors were also recognized.    In addition to Barkemeyer and Past President Melanie Shuffield, directors include: Jeannine Dohnalik; John Egger; Gary Fuchs; Maurice Goza; Ken Harriss; Carolyn Hux; Sara Kostroun; Ed Magre; Janet Sheguit; Donald Shuffield; and John Youngblood.  Retiring directors include:  Glenn Laurence; Mike Shelton; Al Dobos; and Franci Denio. 

After dinner speaker and humorist Dr. Gary Gosney of Temple entertained the crowd. (Audio)

The Yoe High Jaz Ensemble provided dinner music.  Jerry and Agnes Kostroun catered the meal.  And KMIL’s Rob Reed emceed the event.
