MAYSFIELD MAN KILLED IN ROLLOVER

(JONES PRAIRIE)  A 55 year old Maysfield man was killed last night in a 1-vehicle rollover on FM 979 a mile north of Jones Prairie.  James Lee Grier was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:45 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Chip Dunsmoor.  According to DPS Trooper David Yarbrough, Grier was traveling north on 979 in an 84 Chevrolet pickup when he left the road in a curve, slid sideways through the bar ditch and barbed wire fence, and struck a utility pole, causing the pickup to roll one time.  Grier was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.  The body was taken to Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.  Trooper David Yarbrough investigated.

Last night’s fatality was the 7th of the year on Milam County roadways.
