ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT UNDER FIRE

(CAMERON)  Assistant Superintendent Phil Hall will be the topic of a closed session Monday Night when the Cameron School Board considers his future.  Hall admitted during Monday’s regular meeting that he fabricated data for a needs assessment segment of the district’s technology plan.  Hall said when he received notice from Region VI that the plan was needed, he had only 11 days to put the plan together and there was physically not enough time to do the needs assessment.  (Audio)   At stake, is more than a quarter million dollars in e-rate funding for the school district.  Hall told KMIL News today he did what he felt he had to do.  (AudioSuperintendent Maxie Morgan said he was aware of the time frame, however was unaware of the actual content.  (Audio

The district currently has a 2 year plan approved and in place, however the state wanted all districts to resubmit plans under new guidelines.  Hall was under the assumption that the plan was in tact, and may have missed previous notices that a new plan was needed.  (AudioIt wasn’t until April 7th that Hall said he realized a new plan was needed, 11 days before the deadline.  (Audio)

Board President Gene Vaculin would not comment other than to say that the board has called a special meeting to discuss the employment of Hall.  (AudioWhen asked if Hall’s actions are grounds for firing, Superintendent Maxie Morgan said  (Audio)

Hall apologized for what he did and regrets the reflection it has on the district, community and his family.  (Audio)

Monday’s special board meeting to consider Hall’s employment will begin at 7:30 p.m.
