Dewberry Festival spared rain…
Everything was on our side, for the 14th Annual Dewberry Festival which was held in Wilson-Ledbetter Park this past Saturday in Cameron. As we all know, the storms on Friday night teased the outskirts of Cameron, as they blasted through West Milam County, but they spared the park and prepared us for a wonderful day on Saturday.
We had a wonderful turn out and great weather for the perfect day. There were more than 60 vendors in the Arts & Crafts area of the Dewberry Festival. We saw people shopping for those Mother’s Day gifts and also shopping for those very unique gifts. The park was filled with the sounds of the youth fishing, old friends and families visiting and Ronnie Caywood and the Dancehall Drifters of Rockdale. Thanks to Ronnie and the band for the dedicated time in joining us on Saturday. We also want to thank Laurie Synder and the Fancy Feet Dance Company for their production on Saturday as well.
During the Dewberry Bake –Off we had several entries and they were auctioned off to raise money for the Cameron Animal Shelter. The Auctioned raised $550 for the shelter. Winners in the Bake – Off Were:
Layer Cake Category:
1st Place - James Brookshire - Cameron
2nd - Christy Cornelius - Hearne
3rd - Imugene Willie - Cameron
We enjoyed the musical entertainment of Ronnie Caywood and the Dancehall Drifters and the performances of Fancy Feet Dance Company. Be sure to let those people and young ladies know what a great job they did on Saturday.
The Dewberry Festival would not have been such a success, without the help of many volunteers through out the last couple of weeks. Thanks go to the Bud Riola, for his hard work and dedication behind the scenes. Thank you to Patsy Gaines for her time during the BBQ Cook-off and also the Chamber Board for their hard work. We also must thank Game Warden Mike Mitchell for his work on the Youth Fishing Tournament. We hope that everyone came out and enjoyed their time with us during the day.
Time for your Spring Cleaning…
