HOUSTON MAN DIES FROM INJURIES BECOMES 9TH TRAFFIC FATALITY

(CAMERON)  A Houston man who was involved in a wreck south of Cameron on US 190 on April 9th, has died from injuries.  62-year old William Becknann became Milam County’s 9th traffic fatality of the year.  Becknann was traveling west on US 190 near Griffin Chapel when he veered off the road and into the north side bar ditch, before overcorrecting.  He then crossed the center stripe, crashing through the south side of the road and colliding with a tree, and partially grazing a mobile home nearby.  He was freed from his vehicle by Cameron Firemen and the Jaws of Life, and transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Milam County recorded 8 fatalities during the first two months of this year.  Becknann is the first Milam County fatality since February 28th when a Temple woman died from injuries in an auto accident in Buckholts
