MURDER SUSPECT IN MILAM CUSTODY

(CAMERON)  The suspect in the murder of a Buckholts man is back in Milam County today.  Juan Roberto Rodriguez Ramos, 29 of Holland, was arrested without incident by the Galveston Police  Department at a residence around 3 p.m. Friday.  He was transported back to Milam County Sunday afternoon and arraigned Monday morning on murder charges.  According to Sheriff Charlie West Ramos was denied bond because he is termed a “flight risk”.

Alejandro Romero, 24 of Buckholts was pronounced dead at Scott & White Hospital by Bell County Justice of the Peace G. W. Ivey following the shooting incident that was reported to the Sheriff’s Department just after midnight Friday morning.  The body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.  Romero died as a result of at least 9 gunshot wounds.  Another Buckholts man, 21 year old Baldamar Arzola, was listed Saturday in good condition at Scott & White Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting is thought to be the result of an argument between Romero and Ramos.  A murder warrant was issued for Ramos’ arrest by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Chip Dunsmoor.  A statewide broadcast was issued and the border crossings at Eagle Pass and Laredo were notified.

Galveston Police called the Milam County Sheriff’s Department just after 3 p.m. Friday reporting that they had the suspect in custody.

An additional charge of attempted murder is also expected to be filed against Ramos.
