CAMERON MAN KILLED IN HWY 36 ACCIDENT

(CAMERON)  A Cameron man was killed when the pickup he was in was struck from the rear by a tanker truck shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday 3.2 miles southeast of Cameron.  Roland Edward Graham, 50 was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Chip Dunsmoor.  The accident happened southeast of Cameron on Hwy 36 near McLerran Hill.   Graham was a passenger in the pickup driven by his daughter Kayla Dawn Graham of Cameron.  According to DPS reports, both vehicles were eastbound on US190 when Ms. Graham stopped in the main traffic lane to turn left onto a county road and was struck from the rear by the Kenworth 18 wheeler driven by Andre Nathaniel Davis of Houston. The truck's transport tank was empty at the time of the wreck.  Following the collision, both vehicles crossed the westbound lane of traffic and skidded into the bar ditch.   Both drivers were transported to Central Texas Hospital by Scott & White EMS, where they were treated and released.

Cameron’s Scott & White EMS responded along with the Cameron Fire Rescue Unit.  Troopers David Yarbrough and John Vincent investigated and were assisted by Volunteer Firemen and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department.

Thursday's fatality is the 15th of the year on Milam County roads.  The county averages around 11 traffic deaths per year however this year's pace could pass one of the more recent deadly years when in 2000 26 people were killed on Milam County roadways.

Graveside services for Graham will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Marlow Cemetery.  Family visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
