MILANO MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT

(ROCKDALE)  An elderly Milano man has become Milam County’s 16th traffic fatality of 2004.  The 88 year old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was killed when his pickup flipped over on FM 908 about 4 miles north of Rockdale.   The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.  According to DPS, the man was northbound on FM 908 when the right front tire of the 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup struck a guardrail.  The pickup skidded along the guard rail until it reached the end and then flipped, landing upside-down on the opposite side of a small creek.  The man was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:35 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Twyla Harris.  His body was taken to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
