(THORNDALE)  Thorndale ISD Will have a Training Meeting Monday April 22, at 6:30 at the Administration Office 300 N Main St Thorndale.

(BUCKHOLTS)  The Buckholts Independent School District held a bond information night on Thursday after the district’s board of trustees called for an over $11 million bond in the upcoming May 2024 election.

The district says the $11.145 million bond proposal is expected to add a new middle school to the high school, convert the current middle school into an elementary school and help with significant renovations to all campuses.

After calling for the bond, BISD posted a video on their Facebook page revealing the deteriorating conditions the schools are in.

(MILAM)   Milam County Farm Bureau is hosting a Young Farmer and Rancher Informational meeting on Wednesday,  April 24th at 7 pm at the Farm Bureau office.  Attendees will learn about opportunities and benefits available to Farm Bureau members ages 18-35.  You do not need to be a current member to attend.

(ROCKDALE)  County Road 342 will be closed Wednesday, April 24th from 9 am to 3 pm.  This is to replace a culvert.


(GUASE)  Gause ISD will be holding a bond election. Early voting will take place April 22-26, April 29 & 30 and Election Day will be Saturday, May 4th. Proposed projects are: additional classrooms, storage areas, renovating/ updating current facilities, and new school buses.

Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. beginning on Monday, April 22, 2024 through Friday, April 26, 2024 and between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 through Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

(ROCKDALE) Stash Your Trash at Fair Park, Saturday, April 20th 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Or until bins are full CITY RESIDENTS ONLY  Residence will be verified at the site or City residents may bring a driver ’ s license and water bill to verify they live within the city limits.
CONTAINERS will be at the FAIR PARK for FREE disposal of miscellaneous household items (old furniture, mattresses, etc.).  Items may also be placed at the curb throughout the year on your regular pick up day or by scheduling a special pick up with BVR/BIG. 
• :FAIR PARK on Mill Street. Enter Main Gate at Mill Street. Look for signs. Exit Gate 5 at Roberts Street.
• Please trim your tree limbs, especially those close to curbs. Take brush ONLY to 290 Beverly Drive. (MUST be from truck or trailer).  Dirt is available at 290 Beverly Drive. (Self serve only).
• NO MOTOR OIL will be accepted. • NO TIRES will be accepted.
• Fair Park gates will be locked throughout the weekend.
• Please separate metal from regular trash for easier disposal.
• We are unable to accept batteries and any items which contain refrigerant, hazardous chemicals or paint (in liquid form).  If you need help getting your trash to the Fair Park, call the

(CAMERON) New Vision Ministry Church will be having a Churches United Service on April 27th beginning at 2pm. Come for a spirit filled service and a meal will be provided after service.

(TEMPLE) Texas Barbque Association the Salvation Army and the American Legion post 133 The Texas Barbecue Foundation is hosting a food drive to restock the Salvation Army pantry.  On Saturday, April 27th from 11 - 2 pm, the Texas Barbecue Foundation will be giving away BBQ Sandwiches, chips and a drink if you will donate 10 non perishable food items.  You can eat it there or pick it up in the drive thru.  The location of the drive will be 1300 S. 25th St.in the American Legion Post #133 parking lot.


(BARCLAY) Barclay Community Center Fundraiser will be held Sunday April 28th from 11am-TBD.  There will be bar-b-que with trimmings available for dine in or take out. There will also be a silent auction.

(BELL COUNTY)  Bell County Small Grains Field Day   2 CEU Credits Available
The Bell County Extension Office will host a small grains field day on Friday, April 26th , at the Blackland Research & Extension Center 720 E. Blackland Rd. Temple, TX 76502. Registration takes place at7:30am in the field with breakfast provided by Capital Farm Credit.

The program will begin promptly at 8:00am with a tour of the varieties planted in the 2024 wheat & oatstrip trials led by Dr. Brandon Gerrish Extension State Small Grains Specialist.in this year’s trials we have10 wheat and 3 oat varieties on display.  Following that the group will reconvene inside the Blackland Research Centers conference room where a short industry update will be given by the Texas Wheat Producers Association as well as Capital Farm Credit. Dr. Gerrish will give an update on statewide small grain production and issues facing producers this year. A Commodity Market Report for the 2024growing season will be presented by Extension Economist, Dr. Mark Welch. Tyler Mays, IPM Agent in Hill County, will speak on local research he has done on Hessian Fly Impact with this and previous years wheat crop as well as IPM updates in small grain production. Lunch will be served around 11:30am and Dr. Jake Mowrer will close out the program discussing Carbon Sequestration and Soil Management Practices. This program will offer 2 TDA CEU’s 1-IPM & 1-General for licensed applicators and 2 Certified Crop
