LEE CO PURSUIT ENDS IN MILAM CO, 1 SUBJECT IN CUSTODY 

(CAMERON) A pursuit that began in Lee County ended in Milam County with one person in custody. 

 Brett Eberhart says, The Milam County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office about 2:15PM Wednesday, April 24th, about a pursuit of a stolen box truck that was heading toward Milam County. The chase was initiated by Lexington Police Department and was joined by Lee County deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers. As the chase entered Milam County, our deputies and Rockdale Police deployed spike strips to stop the vehicle. Those strips were successful by taking out a front tire on the box truck, bringing the chase to an end on US77 at the US79 overpass on the east end of Rockdale. One person was taken into custody by Lee County. For more information, please contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.


(ROCKDALE) 

Work continuing through Thursday April 25, contractors will be activating new PVC water mains along Main and Ackerman from Elm to Bell. 

Short disruptions in water service and/or reduced pressure will be experienced in this area and may include several blocks around this area. At the same time that the new PVC mains are activated, contractors will be connecting individual service lines to customer meters.
The result of this work will be the removal of approximately 9,000 linear feet of failing Cast Iron pipe from the City of Rockdale water distribution network.

A 6" water main break has caused a reduced flow of water in the area east and south of the Old City Cemetery.        Question may be directed to City Hall at (512) 446 - 2511


(MILAM)   Milam County Farm Bureau is hosting a Young Farmer and Rancher Informational meeting on TONIGHT   April 24th at 7 pm at the Farm Bureau office.  Attendees will learn about opportunities and benefits available to Farm Bureau members ages 18-35.  You do not need to be a current member to attend.

(TEMPLE) Texas Barbeque Association the Salvation Army and the American Legion post 133 The Texas Barbecue Foundation is hosting a food drive to restock the Salvation Army pantry.  
On Saturday, April 27th from 11 - 2 pm, the Texas Barbecue Foundation will be giving away BBQ Sandwiches, chips and a drink if you will donate 10 non perishable food items.   You can eat it there or pick it up in the drive thru.  The location of the drive will be 1300 S. 25th St.in the American Legion Post #133 parking lot.

(ROGERS) City of Rogers having a City Wide Garage Sale & Bake Sale 8am-2pm Saturday  April 27th  Event Central is Rogers Civic Center at 4W Mesquite.  Bake sale and garage sale participant maps available inside.


(MILAM) Milam County Aggie Moms Scholarship Golf Tournament Fundraiser is Saturday April 27th at the Rockdale Country Club.  Its a 4 Person Scramble shotgun start 10am, Open to All Golfers, singles are welcome, Lunch and Carts provided Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams , closest to the pin and longest drive. (CAMERON) New Vision Ministry Church will be having a Churches United Service Saturday  April 27th beginning at 2pm. Come for a spirit filled service and a meal will be provided after service.  Location: 411 W Main St. in  Cameron.


((BARCLAY) Barclay Community Center Fundraiser will be held Sunday April 28th from 11am-TBD.  There will be bar-b-que with trimmings available for dine in or take out. There will also be a silent auction.


(BELL COUNTY)  Bell County Small Grains Field Day   2 CEU Credits Available
The Bell County Extension Office will host a small grains field day on Friday, April 26th , at the Blackland Research & Extension Center 720 E. Blackland Rd. Temple, TX 76502. Registration takes place at7:30am in the field with breakfast provided by Capital Farm Credit.

The program will begin promptly at 8:00am with a tour of the varieties planted in the 2024 wheat & oatstrip trials led by Dr. Brandon Gerrish Extension State Small Grains Specialist.in this year’s trials we have10 wheat and 3 oat varieties on display.  Following that the group will reconvene inside the Blackland Research Centers conference room where a short industry update will be given by the Texas Wheat Producers Association as well as Capital Farm Credit. Dr. Gerrish will give an update on statewide small grain production and issues facing producers this year. A Commodity Market Report for the 2024growing season will be presented by Extension Economist, Dr. Mark Welch. Tyler Mays, IPM Agent in Hill County, will speak on local research he has done on Hessian Fly Impact with this and previous years wheat crop as well as IPM updates in small grain production. Lunch will be served around 11:30am and Dr. Jake Mowrer will close out the program discussing Carbon Sequestration and Soil Management Practices. This program will offer 2 TDA CEU’s 1-IPM & 1-General for licensed applicators and 2 Certified Crop
