Hamburger Pie




1 lb. Lean Ground Beef
1 med. finely chopped Onion
2 Tbs. Flour
2 Tsp. Chili Powder
3/4 Tsp. Salt
1 can undrained diced Tomatoes
1 can drained whole kernel Corn
1 Tsp. Brown Sugar
6 slices White Bread, quartered and without crust
2 Tbs. Butter
1-1/2 Tsp. minced Garlic

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown meat in large skillet with onion for 10 mins. Stir in flour and chili powder. Cook for 1 more minute. Stir in tomatoes and corn. Bring to simmer and cook 3 mins. Add salt, garlic, and brown sugar- mixing well. Spoon mixture into 9" pie dish. Butter bread and arrange on top of meat mixture, buttered side up. Bread should overlap by about 1/2" to cover mixture completely. Press bread down into meat to make it stick. Bake 25-30 mins. until bread is browned. Makes 4-5 servings.
