(TEXAS) Texas shoppers looking for energy saving appliances will get a tax break on Memorial Day weekend.
The Texas Comptrollers Office has announced that Texans can get certain appliances with the Energy Star logo tax free May 27th through 29th. Officials say shoppers could save an estimated $10.2 million in local and state sales tax. Among the types of water- and energy-efficient items Texas is waiving sales tax on are: showerheads, faucets and accessories, toilets, urinals, irrigation controls, recharging water tables, groundwater retainers, soaker or drip hoses, moisture controls, mulch, plants, trees, grasses, programmable thermostats, air conditioners under $6000, refrigerators under $2000, ceiling fans, light bulbs, dishwashers, dehumidifiers, and washing machines.
