SERVICES TODAY FOR FORMER MARLIN FIREMAN KILLED IN BRYAN FIRE
Services will be held today for a former Falls County firefighter
killed last week in a Bryan fire that left 2 dead and 2 others hurt.
say a faulty power cord on a fan in the kitchen sparked the fire that
broke out last Friday night at the Knights of Columbus Hall in the 1500
block of Groesbeck Drive. Lt. Eric Wallace, 36 of Marlin, was 1 of 2
firefighters killed in the blaze when the roof collapsed. Lt. Greg
Pickard, 54, also died in the fire. Two other firefighters, Ricky
Mantey, Jr., 30, and Mitch Moran, 21, were taken to area hospitals for
treatment of serious burns.
Thousands of mourners and fire
department personnel from around the state attended a public memorial
service for Lts. Wallace and Pickard on Wednesday. Services for Wallace
will be 10AM today at First Baptist Church of Bryan.
Wallace was a former member of the Marlin Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife and 5 children.
