(CAMERON) Milam County sheriff’s deputies made an arrest Thursday morning in connection with a home invasion in Temple that left a woman fighting for life and a man with minor injuries.
Deputy Doug Smith found Christopher Sims, 32, of Temple at around 9:40 a.m. Thursday and arrested him after a foot chase.
Sims` vehicle was located in the 900 block of Travis in Cameron. Smith attemtped to make a traffic stop of the vehicle, when Sims fled on foot. After running over 3 blocks the suspect was apprehended by Deputy Smith and taken into custody.
Sims was held for Temple Police.
Police had been looking for Sims since a man broke into an apartment shortly before 6:30 a.m. Thursday at Cimarron East Apartments in the 1400 block of East Avenue E and attacked the man and woman inside with a knife.
The woman had been cut and stabbed repeatedly.
She was taken to Scott & White Hospital with injuries police described as life threatening.
The male resident suffered minor injuries, police said, and was treated at the scene.
Investigators are trying to determine a motive for the attacks.
