CORYELL COUNTY MAN ARRESTED

(GATESVILLE) A Coryell County man is in jail after allegedly shooting at sheriff`s deputies Saturday night.

Authorities say 40 year old David Ray Sneed started shooting at deputies parked near his home on County Road 148 near Gatesville but couldn`t pinpoint exactly where the shots came from because it was dark.

Deputies say Sneed became hostile after they attempted to serve him with an arrest warrant. He`s accused of assaulting and pointing a gun at his 14 year old daughter.

Sneed was found near his home several hours later. He`s charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault on a public servant.


20th DISTRICT COURT

(CAMERON)  A Cameron woman was sentenced to a 5-year probated prison sentence in Milam County`s 20th District Court this past week.  According to a press release from District Attorney Bill Torrey, 46-year-old, Mary Teresa Alvarado pled guilty to a 3rd degree felony charge of DWI, 3rd offense or more.  She was also fined $2,000.  In other cases:

--Jessie James Tabor, 35, of Cameron was placed on 3 years deferred adjudicated probation, with standard conditions of probation, and ordered not to have contact with the victim, after he pled guilty to a 2nd degree felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  In addition, Tabor was placed on 3 years deferred adjudication on a 3rd degree felony enhanced charge of assault family violence.  He was placed on a 3rd term of probation on a charge of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

--Donny Joe Marek, 54, of Rockdale was placed on 2 years deferred adjudicated probation with standard conditions, including anger management after he pled guilty to a lesser included Class A assault causes bodily injury-family violence charge.  Marek was also fined $1,500, and ordered to have no contact with the victim as part of his probation conditions.

--James Lee Uher, 36, of Rockdale pled guilty to a 3rd degree felony charge of prostitution, and was placed on 2 years deferred adjudication probation, with standard conditions of probation, including no contact with the victim.

--Nicolas Bain, 20, and Bradley Stephen Baker, 20, both of College Station were placed on 2 years deferred adjudication probation, with standard conditions after leading guilty to a less included Class A attempted possession of a controlled substance.

--Richard Jacob Fuentes, 30, of Cameron was placed on 5 years deferred adjudication probation, after pleading guilty to a 3rd degree felony charge of assault causes bodily injury-famil violence, enhanced.  Fuentes was also ordered to undergo anger management, as part of his probation.  He was also fined $1,000.


KILLEEN MAN ARRESTED

(KILLEEN) A Killeen man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old in July and August of 2012. Michael Shane Chick has been charged with aggravated sexual assault.

Investigators say the female victim made an outcry in August. Child Protective Services were then informed of the incident.

Following an investigation, Killeen police determined the incidents occurred on multiple occasions in July and August of 2012.

Chick`s bond has been set at $100,000.


CAMERON BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO MEET

(CAMERON) The Cameron Board of Trustees are scheduled to meet on Monday at 7:00pm in the Board Conference Room. The meeting will include the announcement of upcoming events. The Board will also discuss safety modifications for campuses.

Again the meeting will be on Monday February 11th at 7:00pm in the Board Conference room.


THORNDALE BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO MEET


(THORNDALE) The Thorndale Board of Trustees are scheduled to meet on Monday at 6:30pm in the Thorndale ISD Board Room. The meeting will include Student Recognition All District Football. The Board will also discuss the Walsh Anderson Shared Services Agreement.

Again the meeting is on Monday February 11th at 6:30pm in the Thorndale ISD Board Room.


ROCKDALE CITY COUNCIL TO MEET


(ROCKDALE) The Rockdale City Council is scheduled to meet on Monday at 5:30pm in the City Council Chambers. The Council will consider and take any necessary action concerning hiring a firm for advertising and promotion of tourism and the lodging industry in Rockdale. The Council will also consider and take any necessary action on lighting of the new water tower.

Again the meeting is on Monday February 11th at 5:30pm in the City Council Chambers.


FM 486 UNDER CONSTRUCTION


(MILAM CO)  Beginning Monday, traffic will be down to one lane on FM 486 at the San Gabriel River Bridge.  Bobby Colwell, Public Information Officer with TxDOT said traffic will be controlled around the clock by portable traffic control signals.  This one lane traffic control will remain in effect until this fall.

Colwell said the closure is necessary for TxDOT`s contractor to continue work to replace the bridge and the slew bridge.  Motorists should obey all traffic control, because it will be enforced.

The $1.9 Million bridge project is contracted to James Construction, and again is expected to be complete this fall.


MARAK PICNIC TODAY

(MARAK) A Home-Fried Chicken and Sausage Dinner will take place today, from 11AM-1:30PM, in the Marak Parish Center. Meal tickets are $9 each and will be available dine-in or to-go. Plates consist of home fried chicken, sausage, trimmings, dessert, tea or coffee. There will also be a silent auction and sweet shop. The event is sponsored by SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.


GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA TODAY


(CAMERON) The Cameron ISD Performing Arts Center is set to present the legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra this weekend.

The Orchestra will present their Great American Jazz Band program today, starting at 3PM. The Association of Texas Small Schools Band Region 8 All-Region Jazz Band will open the evening. Tickets are available at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce and Yoe High School. They are $15 each.


YOEMEN PRESENTED WITH TEAM OF THE YEAR HONORS


(CAMERON)  At half-time of Friday`s Cameron/Rosebud Lott basketball game, the state champion Cameron Yoemen football team was honored with the Dave Campbell`s Texas Football Magazine and U.S. Army team of the year honors in Class 2A.  Rick Epstein, of Texas Football Magazine was on hand to present a trophy to Yoe High School (0209TEAMOFYEAR.WAV)

The Yoemen finished the year 15-0 and state champions.


YOEMEN BASKETBALL FALLS TO ROSEBUD LOTT


(CAMERON) The Cameron Yoemen dropped their final home-game of the year in District 22-2A basketball Friday, falling to the Rosebud Lott Cougars, 63-44.  Jason Kopriva, Denzel Haynes and Edgar Luna led the way for the Yoemen with 7 points each.  The Cougars were led by Brady Weaver, who finished with 15.

The Yoemen wrap up the regular season Tuesday, when they travel to Rogers.


POLICE REPORT


(CAMERON) Cameron PD reported 2 fires and 1 EMS run. The first fire, at 5:28 PM CVFD responded to Highway 77 and FM 485 where a vehicle was on fire. And at 6PM they were toned out to a controlled burn that got out of control to FM 979.

(ROCKDALE) Rockdale PD reported 1 EMS run and 3 arrests:

21 year female of Rockdale, on a milam county warrant, violation of probation
24 male of Dallas, no drivers license
19 male of Rockdale, on Public Intoxication

And at 9:45 AM RVFD responded to smoke inside of a house on South Pair in Rockdale.

9:45 am 105 south pair smoke in the house, no flames and 1 ems call

(CAMERON) Milam County Sheriff`s Office reported 6 arrests:

--William Jimenez, 32 of Rockdale, Violation of Protective Order
--Daphanie Spiers, 21 of Cameron, Theft of Property less than $1500
--Glenn Lackey, 64 of Temple, Driving while license invalid
--Ricky Freeman, 28 of Temple, DWI and driving while license invalid
--Erick Rodriguez, 18 of Thorndale, Possession of marijuana less than 2oz. in a drug free zone.
--Gerald Mason, 17 of Taylor, Possession of marijuana, less than 2oz. in a drug free zone.

There were no Accidents in Rural Milam County.

There were 93 Prisoners in the Milam County Jail this morning, 24 from Coryell County and 2 from Cameron PD.
