(TEMPLE) An 18-wheeler driver is dead after a Tuesday night accident in Bell County.
Texas Department of Public Safety said the wreck happened about 8PM Tuesday at the intersection of TX36 and Burgundy Lane. DPS said the driver of the westbound 18-wheeler appears to have been blinded by the sun, causing him to strike safety barrels lining the highway before crashing into a guardrail. DPS reports the truck then caught fire, with the driver still inside.
Crews said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has yet to be released. The truck, which was hauling molasses, spilled its load all over the highway.
