(CAMERON)   Milam County Kid Fish  Ledbetter Park in Cameron  Saturday, May 24 ,   9A – 12p
Texas Parks & Wildlife will be hosting our annual Kid fish at Ledbetter Park. The community fishing pond will be stocked with catfish and all kids under the age of 18 are welcome to fish. All kids will need adult supervision while participating in the event. We will supply drinks, fishing equipment and bait. If you have your favorite fishing pole, please feel free to bring it. The limit is five fish per person.
Adults please be mindful this is a Kid fish event. Let’s try and let the kids fish from 9am to 12pm.
Adults are welcome to fish after that. Please keep in mind. All adults will need a fishing license if they are fishing.

(CAMERON)  It’s the annual Memorial Day Ceremony on the Milam County Courthouse Square 10am, Monday in downtown Cameron. The members of American Legion  invite you to join your county’s Veterans as they commemorate America’s military men and women who died in combat. This moving tribute will be presented at the Milam County Veterans Memorial located at the northeast corner of the courthouse lawn.

 

(BELTON)  Memorial Day Honor and Remember will be held Monday, 412 East Ave 12 in Belton 10am, remembering and honoring those who lost their lives while defending our country.

 

(CAMERON)    The Milam County Historical Museum will host a “Visit With Our Veterans” social on Memorial Day, Monday,  May 26, 2025.  This event will take place from 11am to 1pm in the Milam County Historical Museum located at 112 West 1st Street in downtown Cameron.  The Museum will feature its newest display entitled “Weapons of War” a collection on loan from LTC Dwight Jekel, US Army Retired.  “Visit With Our Veterans” will take place immediately following the annual Memorial Day Ceremony on the Milam County Courthouse Square.  The public is invited, and all veterans are welcome to participate in the visiting and storytelling. Monday May 26, 2025   Memorial Day   The semi-annual Artisan Market 9am-3pm  , a wonderful and enjoyable event for the entire family! Our mission is to connect local farmers, artists, and entrepreneurs to their community.

Walker Honey Farm’s semi-annual Artisan Market occurs twice yearly, on Memorial Day in the spring and on the 2nd Saturday of October in the autumn, from 9am until 3pm.

  • LOCAL Farmers and Artisans: Our markets are attended by over 80 local farmers and artisans.
  • Market Raffle: Earn raffle tickets by making purchases at different vendor booths.  Drawings conducted throughout the day for various prizes.  If contact info is given, customers need not be present to win. 
  • Honey Tasting Booth:Want to taste our current varieties of honey and learn more about our busy bees? Have a chat with one of our farmhands! Get a one-on-one education about our bees, honey, tours, and all of the other events we host here on the farm.

(MILAM)  Milam County will hold public hearings and Town hall meetings May 27th- 29th for discussions on investment zone and New industrial zones T1 Energy and Data Centers.  Meetings will be 6pm each night                 – May 27th at the JP Court room , County annex in  Thorndale. –  28th in Cameron at Bea’s Kitchen at the County annex .  – May 29th at the Workforce training office,  1 Stop Center in Rockdale.

 

(JARRELL)  (1997) Anniversary of an F5 which tore through a subdivision of Jarrell called Double Creek Estates in extreme northern Williamson County during the mid-afternoon.   May 27 will mark 28 years since an F-5 tornado blew through the town of Jarrell, Texas, killing 27 people in the 20 minutes it caused devastation on the ground.

It was a multiple storm day,  the storm first picked up momentum in McLennan County taking down a property near Moody,  before gaining full strength in Jarrell,

Leading up to this infamous storm was an all-day series of storms, starting with an F-3 tornado in Moody, touching down near Lake Belton before heading toward Jerrell.

The F-5 tornado wiped the earth bare, ripped pavement off of roadways, pulverized buildings and claimed almost 30 lives.

(ROCKDALE)   The next meeting of the Rockdale ALCOA Retirees will be, Thursday, June 12th.
The meeting will be held at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall ( formally known as the VFW Hall ).
