(CAMERON) The Cameron Independent School District Board of Trustees, at June 2, 2025 Board meeting, named Dr. Mistie Dakroub as a finalist for superintendent. By law, the board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Dakroub to be the new superintendent for Cameron ISD/ Dakroub is slated to replace the outgoing Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles.
The Board has followed a lengthy process in determining the finalist. In April, the Board hired Texas Association of School Board Executive Search Services to direct the search. TASB consultants met with the staff and community groups April 29th to discuss leadership qualities of the new superintendent. The profile developed from these meetings was the yardstick used by the Board and consultants in evaluating the applicants for te position.
The Board selected six candidates for the initial interview and then two applicants were invited back for a second interview. The Board is scheduled to vote to offer a contract to Dakroub on June 24, 2025. Dakroub has served as the Cameron ISD Assistant Superintendent since 2019.
