(ROCKDALE) The Rockdale Rotary Club has contributed to improvements to Veteran’s Memorial Park. This will include the walking trails and adding concrete curbing around the three playscapes. The City will install new slides, repaint the equipment and add additional cushioning material under the playscapes. The park will be closed Monday, June 23rd through Wednesday, June 25th for the repairs. We do apologize for any inconvenience but look forward to seeing the community enjoying the improvements.

BELL COUNTY UPDATE: Caysen Allison was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the stabbing death of fellow schoolmate Joe Ramirez Jr. at Belton High School in May of 2022, meaning probation would not be an option when Allison was sentenced.

(MILAM) Milam County Sheriffs Office booked 2 into the jail –Rhonda Macklin &– Pauline Cavil making the jail count 138.

(MILAM) Man hunt continued over the weekend According to the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted a traffic stop on Colby Martinez on June 20, but the Rockdale man led authorities on a chase that ended in a wooded area near County Road 470.

Martinez, who is currently on parole, allegedly fled in his vehicle before abandoning it and taking off on foot. Authorities say he then entered a nearby river and removed his court-ordered ankle monitor before disappearing.

Multiple agencies responded, deploying drones and a Texas Parks and Wildlife helicopter to assist in the search. Despite those efforts, Martinez was not located. Law enforcement remains in the area and urges the public to stay alert.

“If you see Colby Martinez, do not attempt to approach him. Please call authorities immediately,” a Milam County official said.

Officers say he has a history of evading arrest and is known to disregard the conditions of his parole.

(BELTON) The Captain Game Warden David Pellizzari says authorities responded to a drowning around 8:30 p.m. at Lake Belton on Sunday night. Pellizzari said they were able to locate the victim near the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreational Area. Authorities identified the victim as deceased and recovered the body.

Information has not been released to the public at this time

15th Annual Central Texas Stocker Cattle Program

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, McLennan County along with Extension Beef and

will host the 15th Annual Central Texas Stocker Cattle Program WEDNESDAY, June 25 from 8:00 am- 2:30 pm at the West Auction Barn, 206451 I-35 N Frontage Rd. West, TX

We will conclude the program with Sponsor – Presentations and Door Prize drawings.
Registration will begin at 7:30 am. The cost for this program is $20.00. Two (2) IPM CEU’s will
be offered. Breakfast and a steak lunch are included.

David Greene’s Milam County Brown Santa program that was set up in 2010 by Sheriff David Greene to accept donations and other charitable items to provide Christmas gifts to low-income families throughout Milam County. This program was David Greene’s passion to help children throughout the communities of Milam County. The Brown Santa Program is seeking to honor David’s memory and continue his vision to bring smiles to children and provide them with a happy Christmas, especially those who might otherwise not have a Christmas. Last year was a great year for the program with over 400 children of Milam County served and blessed through the help of our donors.
