Death Toll rises to 110 across 6 counties from the flooding. In Kerr County 87 deaths, including 56 adults and 30 children, 161 people still missing – Over 850 rescued. 10 children and one counselor still missing from camp mystic.

Pat Green has revealed that members of his family are among the missing in the floods. Green’s wife, Kori Green, added that the “I Love Texas” singer’s younger brother “John Burgess , his wife, Julia, and two sons remain missing from the Kerrville flood.

Donations also being announced, The Houston Texans, the Dallas Cowboys and the NFL are committing to assist in helping rescue, relief and recovery efforts a donation of $500,000 each make the total $1.5 million to those impacted by the flooding. NBA –Mavericks, the Rockets, the Spurs, the NBPA announced that more than $2M “will be donated to flooding victims. Rangers and Astros are also joining the “list of several in-state professional sports teams that have announced donations” . Both teams will donate $1M. Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris and Robert Earl Keen are donating to help Hill Country flood victims. Several celebrities with roots in Texas, and beyond, are making direct donations. Robert Earl Keen has announced plans for a benefit show to raise funds for relief.

David Greene’s Milam County Brown Santa program that was set up in 2010 by Sheriff David Greene to accept donations and other charitable items to provide Christmas gifts to low-income families throughout Milam County. This program was David Greene’s passion to help children throughout the communities of Milam County. The Brown Santa Program is seeking to honor David’s memory and continue his vision to bring smiles to children and provide them with a happy Christmas, especially those who might otherwise not have a Christmas. (MILANO) Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District will host a free agricultural irrigation workshop with Texas A&M AgriLife and Texas Water Resources Institute on TUESDAY July 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Texas A&M University Farm (201 Reveille Rd, College Station, TX).

The event will focus on how soil moisture sensors can help producers make smarter irrigation decisions – saving both water and money without sacrificing production. Whether you’re dryland or irrigated, this workshop provides practical tools and hands-on demos that can benefit operations of all sizes.

Former POSGCD staff member and featured speaker Dr. Drew Gholson, Assistant Professor at Mississippi State University and Coordinator of the National Center for Alluvial Aquifer Research, will lead the session. Dr. Gholson specializes in irrigation scheduling and water conservation strategies designed to protect yields and lower costs for producers.

BBQ lunch will be provided, and attendees will have the opportunity to explore free smart sensor and software tools that may be available for field testing.

(CALDWELL) Milano Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District will host its 11th Annual Burleson & Milam Counties Groundwater Summitt on THURSDAY August 7, at the Caldwell Civic Center . The event is free to attend and offers landowners and residents the chance to hear directly from the people shaping water policy and planning across Texas.

This year’s agenda includes a legislative panel titled “Water Policy Changes: What You Need to Know from the Capitol,” featuring Adam Foster, Director of the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts; Sarah Kirkle, Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs at the Texas Water Conservation Association; and Robby Cook, former State Representative and legislative consultant. Together, they’ll discuss this year’s legislative session and what recent changes could mean for local water planning, funding, and district operations. Also speaking is Tony Smith, Associate Vice President at Carollo Engineers and one of the technical leads for the Region G water plan. Smith will walk attendees through where we are in the State Water Planning process and how landowners and local voices can shape what comes next.

In other news, the District is offering free well water testing for private well owners in Burleson and Milam Counties. Sample kits available now through July 17, Mondays through Thursdays from during business hours at the Post Oak Savannah GCD Office in Milano, the Milam County AgriLife Extension Office in Cameron, and the Burleson County AgriLife Extension Office in Caldwell. Test results will be shared at a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, July 29, at the Burleson County Expo Center, featuring the Texas Well Owner Network’s Well Informed program. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the program running from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
