(BOERNE) A country superstar is hosting a benefit concert to help those affected by the central Texas flood. On his social media accounts George Strait announced that he’ll be performing in Boerne, Texas, which is located in the hill country close to Kerr County. The concert is scheduled for Sunday July 27th, and will also feature performances by Strait and Vaqueros del Mar will be joined by William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen and others at the event. The event is limited to 1,000 guests due to the intimate setting.
Donations will be collected by the Del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund and distributed to families directly affected by the floods.
Tickets and tables, starting at $1,000, are now available for purchase. In a press release, it states that complimentary tickets will be provided to local first responders.
Robert Earl Kean My hometown, Kerrville, TX, was hit especially hard, and the loss of life there has touched everyone in Kerr County and beyond. He announced a concert benefitting those impacted by the devastating flood in the Hill Country of Texas. The event will take place at Whitewater Amphitheater near New Braunfels, Texas on August 28. Cody Canada, will join Keen on the bill. It’s expected to showcase several other major Texas and country artists at Whitewater, a 5,600-capacity outdoor venue adjacent to the Guadalupe River. He wanted to make sure that the musical intent was solid,” and discussed the impact of the flooding on the Texas music scene, along his family’s ties to Camp Mystic.
The Texas country music legend took to social media to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and generosity for all the individuals and families in the Texas Hill Country.
Tejano star Shelly Lares announced plans for a benefit concert called “One Stage, One Heart.” The concert will take place from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, July 18, at the Woodlawn Theatre at 1920 Fredericksburg Road.
Organizers suggested a donation of $50 per person. All proceeds will go toward flood relief efforts.
Comedian Ron White announced on social media that all proceeds from his San Antonio show will go toward his Guadalupe Love Fund. He will perform on Aug. 8 at the Majestic Theatre.
In an Instagram video, White said he wants to raise money for fire departments that have lost equipment while responding to the floods. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. July 15.

(MILANO) Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District will host a free agricultural irrigation workshop with Texas A&M AgriLife and Texas Water Resources Institute on TUESDAY July 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Texas A&M University Farm (201 Reveille Rd, College Station, TX).
The event will focus on how soil moisture sensors can help producers make smarter irrigation decisions – saving both water and money without sacrificing production. Whether you’re dryland or irrigated, this workshop provides practical tools and hands-on demos that can benefit operations of all sizes.
Former POSGCD staff member and featured speaker Dr. Drew Gholson, Assistant Professor at Mississippi State University and Coordinator of the National Center for Alluvial Aquifer Research, will lead the session. Dr. Gholson specializes in irrigation scheduling and water conservation strategies designed to protect yields and lower costs for producers.
BBQ lunch will be provided, and attendees will have the opportunity to explore free smart sensor and software tools that may be available for field testing.

(CALDWELL) Milano Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District will host its 11th Annual Burleson & Milam Counties Groundwater Summitt on THURSDAY August 7, at the Caldwell Civic Center . The event is free to attend and offers landowners and residents the chance to hear directly from the people shaping water policy and planning across Texas.
This year’s agenda includes a legislative panel titled “Water Policy Changes: What You Need to Know from the Capitol,” featuring Adam Foster, Director of the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts; Sarah Kirkle, Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs at the Texas Water Conservation Association; and Robby Cook, former State Representative and legislative consultant. Together, they’ll discuss this year’s legislative session and what recent changes could mean for local water planning, funding, and district operations. Also speaking is Tony Smith, Associate Vice President at Carollo Engineers and one of the technical leads for the Region G water plan. Smith will walk attendees through where we are in the State Water Planning process and how landowners and local voices can shape what comes next.
In other news, the District is offering free well water testing for private well owners in Burleson and Milam Counties. Sample kits available now through July 17, Mondays through Thursdays from during business hours at the Post Oak Savannah GCD Office in Milano, the Milam County AgriLife Extension Office in Cameron, and the Burleson County AgriLife Extension Office in Caldwell. Test results will be shared at a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, July 29, at the Burleson County Expo Center, featuring the Texas Well Owner Network’s Well Informed program. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the program running from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
