The 27th Annual Milam County holds an annual “Tree of Angels” ceremony to honor victims of violent crime, where loved ones place angel ornaments on a Christmas tree. MONDAY December 8th at 6:30pm organized and hosted by the Milam County District Attorney’s Office, this event is part of a statewide tradition that originated in Austin in 1991 to provide support and comfort to those affected by violence.

The ceremony remembers individuals who have been victims of violent crime.

Participants: Loved ones of the victims are invited to place a special angel ornament on the tree.
Host: The event is organized by the Milam County District Attorney’s Office.
Origin: This is a local observance of the larger “Tree of Angels” program, which was started in Austin, Texas, in 1991 by People Against Violent Crime (PAVC).

The ceremony is hosted by and held at the Milam County Museum 112 West First Street, Cameron

(MINERVA) Minerva Community Cemetery Association is having a Cemetery Workday on SATURDAY November 15, from 9 am to 12 pm. Community members and association members (families of loved ones who are buried in the cemetery) are invited to participate in the cemetery workday. We plan to clean up the fence line, trim trees, pick up limbs, fill in holes, remove old flowers, and anything else that needs to be done.
