Donald Dee Lawson, passed away on January 17, 2026, in Cameron, Texas. Born on September 23, 1945, in Houston, Texas, Donald was a dedicated professional in the construction industry, serving as a superintendent and later as the owner of Restoration Construction and Lawson Construction. His expertise in the field earned him a reputation for excellence and reliability throughout his career.
Donald’s educational pursuits were rooted in his foundational years at Jeff Davis High School in Houston, followed by further studies at the Colorado School of Mines. These experiences contributed significantly to his extensive knowledge base, which notably included a passion for history and geography.
In addition to his professional achievements, Donald served proudly in the Navy Seabees, where he honed his skills in construction and teamwork, leaving an indelible mark on his character. He embraced life fully, indulging in hobbies such as shooting sports, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and restoring vintage cars.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Sheryl Lawson, and their children: Eric of Buda, Texas; Dan of Henderson, Nevada; Kristi and her husband Jamie of Azusa, California; Rise’ of Houston, Texas; and Rochelle of Covina, California. Additionally, he is survived by his stepchildren: Jennifer and her husband Jim of Andover, Kansas; and Wade of Andover, Kansas. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy Sue Reagan. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Victoria, Jaime, Erica, Acacia, Vaughn, Ellie, Carson, Emma, Curtis, Jake, Jordyn and Tori; and his great-grandchildren: Veida and Vincent; along with numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. His cat, Princess, also survives him.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Dee Lawson and Virginia Randolph Lawson, as well as his brothers Kenneth and Sam, and sisters Beverly and Linda.
As we remember Donald Dee Lawson, let us celebrate a life devoted to family, community, and the pursuit of knowledge. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
