 EXTREME COLD WARNING THROUGH TUESDAY with winter mix.  Pets, People, Plants, Pipes (4P’s)

Tonight through Tuesday the temperatures at Freezing near 10 overnight  re-freezing roadways. Winter weather conditions, especially ice on bridges, roads, sidewalks.

Stay home and stay safe, roads remain icy and make driving dangerous. DO NOT go around barricades – they are there to keep you safe. Elevated roads, overpasses, bridges, and shaded areas remain especially hazardous.
Conditions will continue to be dangerous after re-freezing. Crews from Bell County Road and Bridge, local Public Works departments, and TXDOT are working to improve road conditions.

GRANGER   ICY ROADS UPDATE, 1/26/26: ⚠️STAY OFF ROADS⚠️ Area roadways are still extremely icy and dangerous. There has not been much change since yesterday, with conditions actually worsening in some areas from the refreezing of ice overnight.  IH-35 flyovers remain closed to traffic.

(MILAM)  Warming Centers are coming online. Per the Emergency Management Coordinator, Rockdale Street Ministries will be open throughout this weather event. Rockdale VFD, Milano VFD, and Grace Church in Cameron are on standby and will open up on an as-needed basis.

WACOwarming center located at Elm Ave, Waco is open from Friday January 23 to January 27.  The Salvation Army also plans to open an Emergency Shelter located at 300 Webster Ave. in Waco.

Two warming centers in Burnet County, organized by Ark of Highland Lakes,   A warming center is currently open at First Methodist Church at 301 E. Graves St. in Burnet.

CALDWELL COUNTY  Five locations will serve as warming shelters throughout the county:

  • American Legion (1501 N. Colorado St., Lockhart) — opens 5:30 p.m. Friday and will remain open until no longer needed. Some overnight accommodations will be available.
  • Calvary Chapel (204 N. Main St., Lockhart) — will open when temperatures hit 35° Friday and will remain open through Tuesday.
  • Old Lytton Springs Church (8440 FM 1854, Dale/Lytton Springs) — open from 6 p.m. Saturday through 9 a.m. Monday.
  • Three Rivers Community Church (103 Main St., Martindale)
  • Uhland Catholic Church (80 S. Old Spanish Trail, Uhland)

TEMPLE     The city has partnered with The Salvation Army to operate an overnight warming shelter at 419 W. Avenue G. The shelter will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. 

  • Feed My Sheep, 116 W. Avenue G
  • Temple Public Library, 100 W. Adams Ave.
  • Hilltop Recovery Ministries (women only), 509 S. 9th St.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY  The following locations will serve as warming shelters:

  • Getsemani Community Center (412 E. 19th St., Georgetown). The shelter will be open from 6 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Tuesday. Pets are welcome but must remain in a closed crate while indoors.
  • St. James’ Episcopal Church (612 Davis St., Taylor). The 24-hour shelter will be open from 7 p.m. Friday through Tuesday morning, or longer if conditions require.
