The Milam County Commissioners Court held a special meeting this morning to formally accept the resignation of Melissa Fritz as Milam County Tax Assessor-Collector and to appoint an interim Tax Assessor-Collector to ensure continuity of service to county residents.
Following consideration, the Court appointed former County Judge Frank Summers to serve as the interim Tax Assessor-Collector. Consistent with county precedent in similar situations, Mr. Summers was selected after having finished second in the 2024 election for the office. He has most recently served as the County’s Community Service Coordinator and brings extensive experience in county government operations, leadership, and public service to the position.
Mr. Summers will officially assume the duties of the office on Tuesday, February17, after his required bonds are approved and he is sworn in.
In accordance with state law, the Tax Office has been closed since Mrs. Fritz’s resignation and will remain closed until the bonds are approved and the oath of office is administered. Services will resume immediately upon his qualification.
The Commissioners Court appreciates the public’s patience during this brief transition and remains committed to providing dependable, efficient, and responsive service to the citizens of Milam County.
Please join us in welcoming Frank Summers as he steps into this important role serving our community.
