is the celebration of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence. With this document, signed by 59 delegates, settlers in Mexican Texas officially declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas. 1836

(MLAM)  The Milam Appraisal District will be closed Monday, March 2nd in observance of Texas Independence Day. We will resume regular business on Tuesday, March 3rd.

(MILAM)   CAMERON –Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 3:00PM – 6:00PM The TXDOT Bryan District is hosting a car seat and booster seat inspection event,  Child Passenger Safety Technicians will provide education on proper usage and installation of car seats, along with inspection of the families’ current seats.

The event will be held at the Milam County Maintenance Office, located at 3303 N Travis Avenue, Cameron, Texas 76520. Please call (979) 402-4785 or scan the QR code to schedule an appointment. Limited appointments available.

AREA BURN BAN REMAIN EFFECT /  WIND ADVISARY- (Today through Wednesday) Issued at 120 AM CST Tue Feb 24 2026
Wind advisory for Central Texas  – Very High Fire Threat with dry conditions WINDs  Gusty south winds with speeds between 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to around 30 to 35 mph will be possible during the afternoon. In areas near the I-35 corridor and further into northeast Texas, the signal for winds 20-25 mph and gusts to around 35 mph is the highest. In response we have issued a Wind Advisory for this area from 12 PM today to 6 PM tonight.
