(ROGERS)  The City of Rogers has been awarded a$300,000 grant from the Texas Department & Wildlife to revitalize the Jonathan Allison Park.  To get the funds they must raise $150,000 match, and it doesn’t have to be cash…. volunteer work, equipment and services all count.
Plans include a Butterfly Garden, a large, modern, inclusive playground. Accessible walking trails, Picnic area perfect for family gatherings.

Juneteenth, celebrated Thursday, June 19. Post offices, banks, courts and state offices will be closed on the Juneteenth federal holiday.

(FORT HOOD)   Monday   Fort Cavazos has officially been renamed Fort Hood less than a week since President Trump announced he planned to revert name changes implemented at military posts by the Biden administration.

The installation on June 16 confirmed what Army officials in Washington had already revealed: the name Fort Hood will be in honor  in honor of Distinguished Service Cross recipient, Col. Robert B. Hood, for his heroism in World War I.    Col. Hood received the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions in battle.

 

(MILAM) Milam County Sheriff’s office booked Two into the jail — Shante Campbell and — Jermaine Mayberry, the  jail count  139, 2 in Bell County.

(ROCKDALE) Rockdale Police Department weekly report Officers responded to 159 total calls for service 70 were 911 calls.

 

 

(MILANO)  Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District  Office · 310 E Avenue C · Milano will be closed Thursday in observance of Juneteenth and will reopen Friday.

 

(MILAM)  Milam County Judge Bill Whitmire hosted a Town Hall with Congressman Sessions, at the Robinson Junior High School Cafetorium yesterday, there was a good turnout  for Representative Pete Sessions .
Milam County Commissioners court selected a retiring DPS Officer to be  Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4,  David Yarborough.

(CAMERON)  The Cameron Independent School District Board of Trustees, at June 2, 2025 Board meeting, named Dr. Mistie Dakroub as a finalist for new superintendent for Cameron ISD/ Dakroub is slated to replace the outgoing Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles.

The Board is scheduled to vote to offer a contract to Dakroub on Tuesday , June 24, 2025.  Dakroub has served as the Cameron ISD Assistant Superintendent since 2019.

 

15th Annual Central Texas Stocker Cattle Program

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, McLennan County along with Extension Beef and
Forage Committee’s in Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill, Limestone and McLennan Counties
will host the 15th Annual Central Texas Stocker Cattle Program on Wednesday, June 25th                                           from 8:00 am- 2:30 pm at the West Auction Barn, 206451 I-35 N Frontage Rd. West, TX

We will conclude the program with Sponsor – Presentations and Door Prize drawings.
Registration will begin at 7:30 am. The cost for this program is $20.00. Two (2) IPM CEU’s will
be offered. Breakfast and a steak lunch are included.

(GRANGER) SSCM Parish Chicken Dinner–  The Sts. Cyril and Methodious Parish Hall 500 West Davilla street in Granger will be having a chicken Dinner. Sunday June 29th from 11:am -1pm or until sold out. Fried chicken Cole slaw,  green beans, noodles, peaches. David Greene’s Milam County Brown Santa program that was set up in 2010 by Sheriff David Greene to accept donations and other charitable items to provide Christmas gifts to low-income families throughout Milam County. This program was David Greene’s passion to help children throughout the communities of Milam County. The Brown Santa Program is seeking to honor David’s memory and continue his vision to bring smiles to children and provide them with a happy Christmas, especially those who might otherwise not have a Christmas. Last year was a great year for the program with over 400 children of Milam County served and blessed through the help of our donors.
We are seeking your support this year through Hole Sponsorships and/or Donations.  $100 – Sign recognizing your sponsorship placed in the tee box of one hole. $250 – Sign placed as sponsor of Longest Drive, Closest to Pin, or Most Accurate.  If you would like to be a sponsor, please send the name of your company or organization and payment for one or as many signs as you would like us to display.  Please make checks payable to Milam County Brown Santa and can be mailed to 512 N.
