Milano ISD Mourns the Passing of Superintendent Dr. Elisabeth Avila Luevanos
Milano ISD, Texas — It is with profound sadness that the Milano Independent School District
announces the passing of Superintendent Dr. Elisabeth Avila Luevanos, who died on October 27th,
2025, from injuries sustained in a recent accident. Superintendent Luevanos was a devoted
educator, leader, and advocate for students whose impact on our schools and community will be
felt for years to come.
Board President Levi Keen shared the following:
“Superintendent Luevanos led with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to
doing what was best for children. She guided Milano ISD with vision and heart, and her loss is
deeply felt across our district and community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family
and loved ones.”
The Board of Trustees has asked Mr. Kevin Terry, who has more than 25 years of experience
with Milano ISD, to continue serving as Acting Superintendent while the Board determines the
best long-term leadership plan for the District in the months ahead.
The district remains steadfast in continuing Superintendent Luevanos’s mission of educational
excellence, student-centered service, and community partnership.
