Larry Ray Orsag

(TEMPLE)   Larry Ray Orsag, 69, passed away October 29, 2025 in Temple Texas. Larry was a devoted husband to Carla, loving father, and proud grandfather—known affectionately as “PAW” to his grandchildren.

For 31 years, Larry served as ranch manager, specializing in pecan farming and cattle operations. His work spoke to his strong work ethic, connection to the land, and care for both crop and livestock. After retiring in 2015, Larry wasn’t one to sit still—he started a lawn care service with his son-in-law, where he took great pride in caring for the Yards of Cameron. Larry was also an avid gardener who found joy and peace in tending to his plants and watching things grow.

Larry cherished time spent with Carla and their children, whether on quiet afternoons at home or taking road trips into the mountain country, those journeys offered him a sense of freedom, adventure, and peace. He also enjoyed visiting casinos, which brought him joy, camaraderie, and a little thrill. Larry enjoyed working stock shows, finding joy in the people, the animals, and the sense of community they brought.

Larry had a gift for connection — he loved to chat, laugh, and “bull-shit” with friends, family and anyone who crossed his path, turning ordinary moments into friendly conversations and solid memories.

Those who knew Larry will remember his steady presence, his commitment to family, and his ability to bring people together. He had a way of making others feel included, and treasured the moments spent in the company of those he loved.

Larry is survived by his wife, Carla; his children, Cheyanna Snook and husband John, Marisa May and husband Chris, Holly Dohnalik and husband Phillip, and Dillon Orsag and wife Taylor and David and Derek Brazeal, who were like sons to him. His beloved grandchildren, Kendall, Reid and wife Malley, Alyssa, Evyn, Bethany, Landon, Collin, Caleb, and Leighton; and his Aunt Jeanie Orsag. He is also survived by his sister Vickie Plachy and husband Robert and brother Randy Orsag, and extended family and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lois Orsag; his sister, Gail Hollas; his uncle, Bubba Orsag; and his father-in-law, Norman Kuzel.

A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, November 4th at 10am with Visitation on Monday, November 3rd from 6-8pm at Marek Burns Laywell.

Larry’s legacy is one of hard work, love for family and land, a zest for the open road, simple pleasures—and lively conversation. He will be remembered with fondness, respect and deep love by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
