  “TRAFFIC ALERT”

US Bridge closure over Sandy Creek scheduled for December 11

MILAM COUNTY – US 77 will be temporarily closed overnight at the bridge over Sandy Creek on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, weather permitting. This closure affects the stretch of US 77 between Cameron and Rockdale.

The closure will begin at 8 p.m. and the roadway will reopen the following morning. The closure is necessary to allow crews to perform maintenance under the bridge. Drivers should plan alternate routes during the closure.

 


Newly constructed relief route along US 190 north of Rogers, All traffic in both directions shifted  to the north side of the relief route while work continues on US 190 and the eastbound lanes of the new bypass. The existing US 190 closed at the railroad underpass near County Road 113.

Local access to Rogers will remain available you have to exit via US 190. This traffic pattern will stay in place until crews complete work for the next, and final, configuration of the project, scheduled for 2027.

Harker Heights  The free Frost Fest is held at Harker Heights Community Park-t here is a holiday market, food, and special guests. It runs from 3 – 8:00 p.m.

 

(THORNDALE)  Saturday December 6th Thorndale Christmas Parade, Line up starts 10am Parade at 1pm. The Thorndale Fire Department is doing a raffle to help Jake Altes with medical and everyday expenses, he was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. Jake has been with the fire department for 22 years. If you would like to purchase a ticket they are $10 per ticket.  Please call Fire Chief Eric Melde at 512-269-5798 to purchase tickets, the winners will be announced at the Thorndale Christmas Parade on December 6th.

 

(ROCKDALE) Saturday, December 6th Check-in 5pm,  Parade starts at 7pm-  Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade “Winter Wonderland Parade”  Rockdale.   From 5–9 PM and treat yourself while supporting the Rockdale Band Boosters! Our booth will be located on Main St. There will be food and craft vendors at this year’s Winter Wonderland at Wolf Park.  Rockdale’s biggest community holiday events, now’s the time to sign up. , December 6, 2025   Wolf Park – 10 N Main St, Rockdale  5 PM – 9 PM also looking for volunteers.

 

(BUCKHOLTS) Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Parade from 6-8pm, Saturday December 6th Line up at the Buckholts State Bank at 5pm  Starts 6pm. Join Santa After the parade for pictures  hot chocolate and cookies.  Parade information,  if you want to enter the parade call AJ at 979 224 0260.

(KILLEEN) The Killeen Police Department is hosting its “KPD Blue Holiday” toy drive and Santa visit on Sunday, December 7 at 1500 Lowe’s Boulevard, in the parking lot between Kohl’s and Walmart.

There will be free photos with Santa, crafts for your kids, and holiday treats, of course.

Head out there between 12 and 6 p.m. and donate new, unopened toys or books for kids of all ages to help out other children in the community this holiday season for the Blue Holiday Program.

(LORENA)  For the first time, Locals Love Us – Waco is hosting A Very Waco Christmas. This is a community celebration and a way to give back to local businesses. The event is on Monday, December 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1900 Spring Valley Road in Lorena.   There will be free photos with Santa, activities for the kids, local vendor shopping, concessions, and giveaways.

(MILAM)  Milam County Sheriffs office reported 143 inmates in the jail.
