(TEMPLE/JARRELL ) The Jarrell Police Department confirmed an officer-involved shooting happened after a vehicle chase ended in Bell County. As a result, I-35 was shut down near Exit 306.
The driver of the vehicle involved was transported to a local hospital. The department says no officers were injured.
Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
UPDATE: Interstate 35 in Temple is now back open following an officer-involved shooting that began with Jarrell police and ended in a chase through the area.
The Temple Police Department said all northbound lanes are closed at the 306 exit, with traffic being diverted to the northbound 305 exit. The closure is expected to last several hours.
Temple police are assisting Jarrell police with the incident, which officials said originated with the Jarrell Police Department and continued in a chase through Temple. The incident ended just north of the Buc-ee’s travel center in Temple.
Officials said Jarrell police will release information about what occurred during the incident.
Authorities are asking drivers to use alternate routes if they need to travel through the area.
