KMIL 105.1 welcomes Polka fans to listen to the legendary Michael Craig.
I started my career in radio at KTAE 1260 AM in Taylor, a station my family listened to every morning on the farm that I grew up on Northwest of Taylor. I began in June of 1977 on Sundays doing news, playing country music and Polka Music. In the 1990’s I moved up to music director position and worked the morning shift from 5:30 AM to 12:00 noon Monday thru Friday and still on Sundays. KTAE sold in March of 1997 I stayed on with the new owners until May of 1998. When the station sold Charlie McGregor asked me to come and do a 2 hour Sunday Polka Show and sell advertising. I did finally come to KRXT and did my first polka show on Sunday, September 13, 1998. Since that time the Sunday polka show has grown to most of the afternoon from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. and in 2008 we started the weekday polka show from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. I thank the good lord every day for all of the loyal listeners who are the ones who have made Michael Craig’s Polka Show a success, I know without them I would not be where I am today. I retired from KRXT at the end of March 2024.
I am now honored to continue the polka music on Sunday on KMIL from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.
