(TEMPLE) One Central Texas family celebrated more than just the new year this Jan. 1, they also welcomed the first baby of 2026 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
Baylor Scott & White said baby Dominic Mykel Gray was born at 2:41 a.m. on Jan. 1, welcoming in 2026 in “the most joyful way.” The hospital said baby Dominic weighs six pounds, three ounces and is 19 inches long,Baylor Scott & White said Dominic and his mother LaTisia are both doing well.

(WACO) Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco has welcomed its first baby of the new year. The hospital announced that doctors delivered one of Waco’s first babies of 2026 at 3:35 a.m. on Jan. 1. The baby, named Ezra Dees, weighed seven pounds, five and a half ounces at birth and measured 21.25 inches tall, the hospital said.
(WACO) NEW AT the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco celebrated two big occasions this Jan. 1, the New Year and the birth of a special new resident, a baby Orangutan!
The zoo announced that the baby, which they have not yet given the name of, was born at 7:28 a.m. on Jan. 1 to mom Mei and dad KJ. Mei and the baby are both doing well, according to the zoo, and are being closely monitored by the zoo’s animal care and veterinary teams.
***(BARLETT) Early yesterday morning, The Holland Volunteer Fire Department are on the scene of a residential fire with mutual aid in Bartlett, just off Arnold Drive-A fire overnight destroyed a home in the 1000 block of Arnold Drive in Bartlett.
Bartlett Mayor Chad Mees thanked all of the “heroes who helped save this family.”
Everyone made it out of the home, the Holland VFD wrote in the post.
Two firefighters sustained burns while battling the blaze and were treated at the scene.
The home was deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

(ROCKDALE) The Milam County Tax Office is now open in Rockdale One-Stop Center for Property Tax payments. We are still waiting for the DPS to install their equipment so we can do vehicle registrations as well. We hope they’ll have that installed by January.
