Born November 18, 1974 in Waco, Texas, graduated from Leander High School in 1993. He pursued a nursing degree at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, followed by attending the Killeen Police Academy and the federal academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. military service as an intelligence specialist in the Marine Corps then becoming a firefighter in Newbern, NC, before enlisting in the US Army as a shooting instructor.

Surviving sons Josh and Charlie Bauer, daughters Kelsey, Emily, Lillian, and Clara Bauer, brothers Eric Bauer and Jacob Bauer and sister Candi Bauer and 1 grandchild
