National Police Week  

Armed Forces Day  MONDAY  May 18th  It is a day to pay tribute to men and women who serve the United States’ armed forces.  The first Armed Forces Day was celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 1950. The theme for that day was “Teamed for Defense”, which expressed the unification of all military forces under one government department.
Memorial Day Monday May 25th  a federal holiday in which we honor and mourn members of the military who have passed away while serving in the United States Armed Forces. On this day, we pay tribute to those who gave their lives while protecting and serving their nation.

(CAMERON)   Cameron Farmers Market runs every weekend from 10am-3pm Friday-Sunday at the Cameron City Park as long as the weather is good.

(MILAM)  Around 6:15  Thursday morning Traffic being diverted this morning due to an accident involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Texas DPS Troopers responded to a report of a major crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger car. A 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by 34-year-old Michael Tyler Morton, of Austin, was traveling westbound on US 79 near CR 234. Preliminary investigation showed the motorcycle veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2013 Ford Taurus. Morton was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Ford Taurus were transported to Baylor Scott & White in Temple for treatment. The crash investigation remains ongoing. Next of kin have been notified.

(ROCKDALE)   Thursday at approximately 7:33pm the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a Structure Fire in the 1300blk of County Road 314. RVFD crews assisted by Milano VFD, Tanglewood VFD, and Lexington VFD did an excellent job rapidly controlling the fire. The fire was contained to approximately 40% of the home. Additionally, the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, Allegience EMS, and PHI Air Med 15 responded and provided assistance in conjunction with the Milam County Fire Marshal’s Office. One 65yo male resident was transported by helicopter to Baylor Scott and White – Temple in serious condition. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation
