Cameron Man Dies Following Maysfield Mishap
(CAMERON) An elderly Cameron man hurt Tuesday when his pickup veered off FM 485 at Maysfield and plunged into a creek, died today. John A. Smith, Jr. 87, was transported by Medivac to Scott & White Hospital in Temple where he died today. Justice of the Peace G. W. Ivey said preliminary indications are that Smith died from a heart attack. Investigating Trooper Jimmy Morgan told KMIL news, that because of the ruling, the accident will not be investigated as a fatality. Smith was westbound on FM 485 when he veered off the right side of the road, traveled behind the Maysfield Creek Bridge guard rail, and plunged into the creek. He had remained in the Intensive Care Unit at Scott & White until he died early this afternoon. Cameron's Scott & White EMS and the Cameron Fire Rescue Unit responded around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. |
