CAMERON
ISD ACCEPTS RESIGNATION OF SUPERINTENDENT
(CAMERON) In a Marathon called session of the Cameron School Board last
night, trustees voted to accept the resignation of Superintendent Doug
Koebernick, however provisions of the agreement have yet to be released.
The board met at 7 p.m. Thursday, and immediately retired into a 6-hour
closed session before convening back in to open session around 1 oclock
this morning to accept the agreement. Board President Gene Vaculin said he
has called another special meeting for Monday, August 6th, to sign the
agreement and appoint an interim superintendent. Vaculin said until
the agreement is signed, provisions are not being disclosed. Vaculin
stressed that an interim Superintendent will be appointed by the board at
Mondays called meeting, and school will begin Tuesday with a
superintendent in place. Last week, the board met in a special session and placed on retainer,
the Austin law firm of Walsh, Anderson, Brown, Schulze & Aldridge.
Shellie Hoffman Crow of the law firm met with the board in Thursdays
closed session. Koebernick was hired 2 years ago to replace Ronnie Kincaid who resigned
to accept the Lampasas ISD superintendent position. Koebernicks 3 year
contract is up at the end of the 2001-2002 school year. During a 2 hour
and 10 minute executive session last week, trustees evaluated Koebernicks
performance and contract. However, following the closed session, no action
was taken, and no comment was offered by the board. |
