Cameron Man Killed in Fog Related Accident

(CAMERON) A Cameron man was killed early today in a 1 vehicle rollover that wasn’t discovered for some 8 hours later. Weldon Dwayne Moore, age 20, was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:15 p.m. today by Pct. 3 JP Twila Harris. The accident happened at the intersection of Farm Roads 1600 and 487 nine miles south of Cameron. Investigating Trooper Jimmy Morgan placed the time of the accident at around 6 a.m.  Morgan said dense fog was a contributing factor. Moore was southbound on FM 1600 and was not wearing a seat belt when he ran through the FM 487 intersection, struck a fence and plowed into a wooded area where the vehicle rolled four times, ejecting Moore.  The vehicle came to rest in an area surrounded by dense trees, and was not visible from the roadway (above).   The accident wasn’t discovered until around 2 p.m. by a passing motorist. The body was taken to Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.   Services are pending.

Moore is the 7th traffic fatality of the year in Milam County.

State Trooper Jimmy Morgan inspects accident scene.  The Pickup came to rest in an swamp-like area surrounded by dense trees.
