Local Woman Buys Magnolia House

(CAMERON)  Cameron resident Rosalind Brinkley purchased the Magnolia House today for $200,000 during an absolute auction of the property at the corner of 5th and Travis.  The price tag includes the house and lot. The office building sold today for $17,500 and the   half-block city lot behind the structures, also sold for $17,500.   The furnishings also sold separately at today's auction.   Mrs. Brinkley was bidding against a Round Rock couple who wanted to move the house to Round Rock.  Mrs. Brinkley, (pictured left) who is currently restoring an old home near downtown, said today she is unsure what her plans are for the Magnolia House.

The home was restored several years ago by John and LaGayle Sosnowy, who now live in Seattle, Washington.  The house and ranch north of Cameron have been for sale, but recently the Sosnowys' contracted with an auction firm to sell the properties in an absolute auction, meaning that high bidder wins the property.

In a separate auction of the Sosnowy Ranch north of Cameron today, the 5,000 square foot house and 227 acres sold for $495,000.
