Dangerous Day on Highway 79 

(Milano)  Two Milano residents were transported to Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale following this 3-vehicle accident near Milano Wednesday.  DPS Trooper Jimmy Morgan said the accident occurred when 64-year-old Leonard Warren, of Milano was attempting a left turn onto County Road 380 off of Highway 79, when his '93 Dodge pickup (pictured above) was struck from behind by a 1989 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Frankie Falco, 42, of Milano.  The impact from the accident knocked the Warren truck into the opposite lane into the path of a 1982 Ford Precinct 3 truck, driven by 58 eyar old John Ritchie.  Ritchie escaped injury, while Falco was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a 3rd offense or more.

(Gause)  Another driver was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon, just minutes after the Milano accident on another section of Highway 79 near Gause.  The driver of the Ford truck (pictured left) was flown by Medivac to a local area hospital after colliding near head on with an 18-wheeler, owned by Sanderson Farms in Bryan.  And eye witness at the scene told KMIL News that the dirver of the pickup was passing other vehicles erratically, before passing him, then colliding with the big rig.  The driver of turkey truck was not hurt.  DPS Trooper Jonathon Hunter from Robertson County investigated this accident with assistance from the Milam County Sheriff's Department.

A 3rd accident occurred in the same time from on Alcoa Road in Rockdale, when a Round Rock man was transported to Richards Memorial after rolling his tractor-trailer rig.  Percival Taylor Jr., was driving a big rig loaded with fly ash from Alcoa, when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, rolling his truck.  DPS Trooper Michael Nix was investigating that accident when the next two calls were reported to State Troopers.
