Longtime Administrator to be Named Superintendent

(CAMERON)  The Cameron School Board concluded their interviews Saturday with 6 finalists for the position of Superintendent.  Board President Gene Vaculin said the board decided to declare Maxie Morgan the next Superintendent of Cameron ISD.   Vaculin said following the conclusion of the interviews Saturday, the board felt three of the finalists stood out above the other three, and following several hours of discussion, decided to name Morgan as the Board’s choice.

Morgan has been with Cameron ISD for 32 years.  He began his career with the district in 1969 as a teacher and coach.  After 4 years, he became a Director of Federal Programs for the district for 7 years.  He then served as High School Principal for 4 years before being named Business Manager, a position he has   held for 19 years.  In August of last year, Morgan was named interim superintendent after the board accepted a resignation agreement with Doug Koebernick.  (see story)

Morgan is married to wife Linda, a Business Teacher at Yoe High School.  They have a daughter Holly and a son Kent.  Holly lives in Bryan with her husband Derek Moore, and they have a 1-year old daughter Grace Hanna.

Kent is currently the assistant strength coach at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

The board can’t officially hire Morgan as Superintendent until March 9, 21 days after the interview process.
