(MILAM COUNTY)  - Investigation continues Texas DPS says two people are severely injured following a two-vehicle accident where a driver attempted to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone.

On Tuesday May 7, Texas DPS responded to a crash on US 79 near CR 356 on reports of a major crash with injuries.

A 20-year-old-man from Seguin was driving a 2006 Ford Focus northbound and a 51-year-old woman from Rockdale was driving a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound.

An investigation of the crash revealed that the driver of the Ford Focus disregarded a no passing zone near the top of a hill and crashed into the Hyundai in the southbound lane, according to Texas DPS.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with incapacitating injuries, Texas DPS says.

The driver of the Ford Focus  20-year-old-man from Seguin was given a citation for disregarding a no passing zone and authorities continue to investigate the crash.

Texas DPS would like to remind drivers to obey all traffic laws. Failing to abide by traffic laws greatly increases the probability of being involved in a traffic crash.
