Restoration
Gears Back up
(CAMERON) Following a 3 week delay
due to concerns of cost overruns, the Milam County Courthouse Restoration
Project is back underway, thanks to the generosity of many who have
contributed to the cause. The Preserve Our Past (POP) Committee
reported to Milam County Commissioners on May 14th that contributions have
topped $329,000 to cover the more than $600,000 shortfall. As of
today, that figure is over $350,000. Commissioners agreed during
their May 14th meeting to proceed with the project, stipulating that
complete restoration be done. Following the announcement of the
overruns, commissioners looked at cutting some sections of the restoration
to bring the project to within budget.
