Snow Falls on First Day of 2002

(CAMERON)  The New Year brought a rare treat for Central Texans.  Snow fell across the area Tuesday night, providing an exciting addition to to the holiday for many.  However, because of the warmer than expected temperatures,  little accumulation was experienced.  And unexpected patterns in the atmosphere, resulted in less snow than first forecast for the area.

Ironically, our last real winter storm occurred one year ago, but it came in the form of ice, not snow. (see story)

(Above)  Although at times the snowfall was significant, it only provided a dust affect (below) to pastures, cars and rooftops.
