San Gabriel Baptist Church will host an old-fashioned southern gospel singing on Saturday, August 29 at 6 pm. Previous singings have featured congregational singing, solos, duets, trios or quartets and instrumental specials of southern gospel and contemporary Christian music as well as traditional hymns. Song requests are taken during the evening for congregational singing. Volunteers are accepted for rendering solo or a group performance. Refreshments will be served following the singing. If you enjoy the type of Southern Gospel Christian music written by Albert Brumley, John Peterson, and Fannie Crosby, you will enjoy this evening of praise and worship through song. Everyone is invited!
Visitors are encouraged to attend the 125th Anniversary Celebration of Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts on Sunday, August 30 at 10:15 am. The Rev. Dr. Judith Spindt will be guest preacher. She has served churches in the Caribbean Synod and is fluent in Spanish and shares ways the church is relevant in our multicultures. Dr. Spindt is the Director for Evangelical Mission in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. At 9 am she will share ideas in an open forum in the Fellowship Hall. Refreshments will be served as well as a Potluck Lunch after the morning worship. Those who have no church home are especially encouraged to attend.
The annual Parish Bazaar at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger will be Sunday, September 6th. BBQ to go at the Pit will be available starting at 7AM. Dine In and Take Out begins at 11AM. Plates are $10 for adults and $5 for kids and include BBQ, fried chicken, dressing, and trimmings. Sandwhiches, chili dogs, and nachos will be sold form 2-10PM. There will also be lots of games and entertainment throughout the day. A live auction kicks off at 1:30PM. A dance will be held from 7-11PM featuring the tunes of Fritz Hodde and the Fabulous Six. Dance tickets are $8.

AMAZING GRACE THRIFT SHOP on Hwy 36 at the caution light in Buckholts is a non-profit organization that has clothes and shoes priced at 50 cents. They also have household items, books, baby items, etc. The group relies on donations to make this a ministry of God’s grace and will use the money for scholarships, school functions, and other community projects that God puts in their hearts. MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month Sept. - May at the First Baptist Church in Rockdale at 9:30am.
