(CAMERON) The Yoe baseball team dropped their 1st playoff game of the year Thursday in Cypress.

The Cameron baseball team found themselves playing catchup from the get go during their regional final opener at Cy Ranch, falling 7-5 to the Diboll Lumberjacks. Diboll opened the scoring with 3 runs to kick off the game and eventually took a 5-3 lead through 2 innings as Cameron worked to get back into it. The Yoemen tied it up with a pair of runs in the 5th but coughed the lead right back up in the 6th before faltering in the 7th and ending with a loss. A trio of baserunning mistakes and a pair of fielding errors helped doom the Yoemen in game 1. Brannon McCall went 6 innings and gave up all 7 runs, only 5 of those earned. He also walked 2 and hit 3 batters. Tracer Lopez wrapped things up in the 7th with a scoreless frame. Gabe Smith started for Diboll and did a little of everything, tossing 6 innings and allowing 3 runs while picking up 3 RBI on a couple of hits to lead the Lumberjacks. The Yoemen will now need to sweep a pair of games Saturday to advance. Game 2 is set for 4PM in Cy Ranch and KMIL will bring you all the action.
